Solían ser vestidos para estar en un yate o barco, con inspiración marinera para el día y para la noche tejidos de lino, sedas y alguna que otra lentejuela.
Al principio, sólo unas casas de moda se dedicaban a lanzar este tipo de colecciones (Chanel, Prada, Louis Vuiton..) sin embargo, cada vez más firmas de moda se han sumado al carro de la colección crucero, ya que cada vez tiene más adeptos. En origen, ésta era única y exclusivamente para mujeres sin embargo, cada vez son más las firmas que apuestan por la colección masculina. Poco a poco, los hombres van teniendo más opciones a la hora de vestir.
